We are halfway through the summer season here at Camp Henry and every single week has been filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love! Our theme this summer is “When the Saints Go Marching In” and our chaplains each week have helped us understand what it means to be a saint and how to care for ourselves, our neighbors, and God’s creation.

Each week has been busy with skits and games, singing and dancing, exciting and educational activities (which we call “skills”), Field Days, and Boojum Bashes at the lake. We have spent hours in the newly renovated Boojum, playing games like pool and ping-pong, role-playing during Dungeons and Dragons, and hanging out on the couches during Canteen. We are so excited to keep singing and dancing our way through the last few weeks of Camp and wrap up another amazing summer!
This year was the 2nd annual year of Bilingual Camp here at Camp Henry, and we had a fantastic session! Bilingual Camp is special here at Camp Henry because this session is focused on welcoming the Spanish-speaking community of the Western Diocese, and we were overjoyed to have over 60 campers and families join us last week. We had an amazing crew helping out this week including six volunteers, Reverend Erin from St. John’s in Sylva, and Camp Henry staff. This session was full of singing and silliness; we even made up a new camp dance! We can’t wait for Bilingual Camp next summer!

Camp Henry is a ministry formed and grown from the unconditional love and support from the Western Diocese of North Carolina, especially those who donate to our Scholarship program and overall Camp Henry funds. Camp Henry is proud to have one of the most robust and supported scholarship programs for summer camps, and we want to be able to keep offering scholarships to campers and families so they can experience the love and joy of Camp Henry. Our Bilingual Camp is a session entirely subsidized with grants, donations, and our Scholarship program and we hope to keep this session growing each year. We thank everyone who has donated funds or time to Camp Henry, and those who have participated in fundraisers for Camp Henry.
