On Saturday, June 14 Earle Ross Haire, Jr. was ordained by Bishop José to the order of the diaconate at St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock. E.R. will begin his ministry as deacon at St. Paul's in Edneyville in July. He will serve as deacon while continuing the process toward ordination as priest.

E.R. shares, "I am honored, humbled, and privileged to be called and accepted into the brotherhood and sisterhood of deacons and priests in this diocese. I am looking forward to meeting more colleagues and making friends in Christ. I look forward to working with Kevin Todd, and working for, with, and under the authority of Bishop José. I was overwhelmed with the show of support that I received from friends, family, and the wonderful people of St Phillip’s in Brevard and my beloved church family, St John in the Wilderness, Flat Rock. A very special thank you to Fr. Josh Stephens, and to Mother Elizabeth Roles for their friendship and guidance. Also to my dear friends Fr. Bill McCleery and Fr. Ian Williams. Thanks be to God.”

We are grateful for E.R.'s faithful answer to God's call toward ordination. May God bless his ministry.
