About The Event

Dismantling Racism Retreat is for clergy and lay leaders who need to satisfy the canonical requirements for anti-racism training. Future offerings will be opened up to the wider diocese after we have been able to provide the necessary training for all who require it. The training is limited to 24 people and we ask that no more than six people per church attend the event.  Thank you for understanding.

The retreat will take place on Zoom on Friday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then on Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Please note that in order to receive a certificate for this training you must attend the entire event.

Throughout the retreat you will have the opportunity to look at racism through the lens of faith, our nation's history, our privileges, and our internalized oppression. The purpose of this course is not to "train you" to be "less" racist but to invite you to examine personal experiences and internal perspective on racism in America.

If you have questions about registration please contact Kelsey Davis at kdavis@diocesewnc.org

The Dismantling Racism curriculum was created by the Diocese of Atlanta and Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing. The curriculum will be taught by the Rev. Oscar Roso, The Rev. Anna Shine and  Kelsey Davis.
