About The Event
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, February 13, 2027, as our diocese gathers to celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Absalom Jones—the first African American ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church.
We are overjoyed to announce that our guest preacher will be The Rev. Dr. Judy Fentress-Williams, a profoundly gifted preacher, prolific scholar, and the Dodge Professor of Biblical Interpretation at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS).
About Our Guest Preacher
Dr. Fentress-Williams lives vibrantly at the intersection of the academy and the church. Her exceptional academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University, followed by a Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Philosophy, and a Ph.D. from Yale University. Globally respected for her expertise in the Hebrew Bible, Afro-American studies, and literary criticism, she has spent her career teaching others how to hear the rich, multiple voices singing within holy scripture.
