Constitution and Canons Update

Since the 2017 annual Convention of the Diocese, the Committee on Constitution and Canons has been working on restatements of our Constitution and Canons. A proposed restated version was rejected by the 2021 Convention, and the 2022 Convention tasked the Committee with making further revisions. It is anticipated that the Committee’s recommendations will be presented to the 2023 Convention for a decision. Please review the documents and consider joining one of the feedback sessions, either in-person or on Zoom.

Constitution and Canons Committee

The Committee on Constitution and Canons consists of members of the Diocese nominated by the Ecclesiastical Authority and elected by the Convention of the Diocese. The committee serves to receive, consider, and review any proposed amendments, edits, and changes to the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese of Western North Carolina brought to the committee by the Convention. The committee works between conventions of the diocese and brings recommendations to the Convention based on its work in the preceeding year.
